Problem solving and parenthood

In the few months I have been a parent (Abi is a few days over 5 months old now) I have noticed a large increase in the number of problems we have to solve and decisions we have to make. Sometimes they are simple day-to-day ones, such as when to put Abi down for her nap, and other are larger and more complex, such as when to start "solids" or whether or not to have her baptised. Some require common-sense solutions, some a bit of creativity combined with trial and error, and some have no neat or commonly agreed on answer. The lack of clear and consistent information about introducing "solids" is very frustrating, but we decided that Abi seemed ready and that we'd introduce things quite slowly as we were starting before 6 months. (On a side note, solids are a lot of fun - she makes all sorts of faces and dribbles half of it out, but still happily opens her mouth for another spoonful). The decision not to baptise (or dedicate) Abi as an infant was fairly easy for us (although we had lots of discussions with other Christians about it) even though it is somewhat un-Anglican. Although it is taking me a while to be comfortable with the idea that there is no perfect answer to some issues, it also means that i can stress less over the decisions that we make.

On a different note - Abi now has the top of a tooth sticking out from her lower gums and had fortunately stopped bitting on everything (at least until the next one starts trying to get through). She is also be coming a bit of a thug. For example, her favorite way to play with her mobile (below) is to pull on the toys until they come off (except the elephant doesn't come off no matter how hard she tries) and then shake them backwards and forwards before letting go mid-shake.
